DragonSword: Awakening Chapter 2 Walkthrough — Six Heroes Statue & Altar Pillar Puzzle

Last updated: July 2026

Six Heroes statue cleaning, scripted losses with Saintess Ysera, Furcas rematch, and Altar of the Dragon pillar puzzle.

Chapter 2 — Opening

After Johnny's unofficial relic quest fails to count toward the Organa Order, the party takes low-level requests from guild receptionist Anne. The first job asks Lute to clean the Six Heroes statue in the central square — Johnny, Castella, and Aria refuse because they are "tired." Climb the monument and clean all six marked spots. Lute comments on each hero's likeness.

Afterwards, Aria tells you about the Six Heroes who repelled the great dragon Arugal sixty years ago, and reveals Dragon Dust from the body of Kalagon — the dragon Goddess Organa herself slew. This sets up the recurring relic-and-Dust plotline for the rest of the chapter.

Scripted Loss: Saintess Ysera

When the Order asks Johnny's group to follow Ysera against Ropie, control shifts to the Saintess herself. You cannot win this fight — her health reaches zero regardless of your actions. This is the intended progression trigger. Reloading or grinding levels does not change the outcome; let the scene play out so Ropie escapes and Furcas returns for the rematch.

Defeat Furcas after the cutscene. Ysera bleeds out after the dragon falls, asking Johnny and Lute to bring her final words to Ornette: she wants Ornette to lead the Organa Order and not follow Ysera's path. Track this storyline through our Ornette combat guide.

Six-Person Door Mechanism

During the dungeon chapter, you encounter a closed door that requires six people to operate. A rival group is part of the solution — you do not need to recruit three extra NPCs. Stand your character on the bottom-right floor plate and let the scripted NPC positions complete the formation.

Retrieving the relic triggers an escape sequence rather than a normal loot pickup. Run the collapsing route, cross the broken platforms, and only stop for the final enemies that physically block the exit. Furcas converts the tutorial's defensive-bar lesson into a real punish cycle once it re-engages.

Altar of the Dragon — Pillar Puzzle

Ornette's funeral request opens the second visit to the Altar of the Dragon. Inside, three pillars and a series of floor plates gate progression. Recorded launch runs place level 20 enemies in the inner rooms — keep Lute, Castella, and Aria leveled together rather than spreading EXP.

Two-Pillar Room

Push the right pillar onto its floor plate to open the first combat room. In the next chamber, a cracked wall hides an unreachable pillar — break it, then move both pieces onto the two plates to unlock the corridor.

Three-Platform Chamber

Place the first pillar on the upper-left plate and clear the room that opens to retrieve a second pillar. Move the second pillar to the bottom-right plate. If the third pillar seems to lack space, shift the first pillar to the adjacent plate — the puzzle is a sequence of temporary door states, so a pillar that opened one room may need to be moved again to clear the relic room.

Chapter 2 Wrap-Up

Chapter 2 ends when Lord Ewald asks Johnny's group to reunite the heroes and stop Arugal — that request is the handoff into Chapter 3, not an empty Guild board or a roster level. Reference our Chapter 3 walkthrough for the next chapter and our team-build hub to optimize the trio before the level 20 encounters.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the statue have only five heroes?
Cleaning all six marked spots despite only five statues is intentional — the missing figure is a narrative clue, not a bug.
Can I win the Ysera fight?
No. The Saintess scripted loss is the progression trigger that unlocks the Furcas rematch and Ornette funeral. Do not reload or grind around it.
How does the Altar pillar puzzle work?
Move pillars onto floor plates in the correct order — some plates require a second pillar retrieved from the room that just opened. Pillars may need to be moved again for new doors.
