DragonSword: Awakening Patch 1.0.1 — DLC Ownership Fix

Last updated: July 2026

Official July 23, 2026 hotfix resolving unpurchased DLC equip crashes and restoring fair cosmetic ownership checks.

Patch 1.0.1 Overview — July 23, 2026

Hound13 released Patch 1.0.1 on Steam within hours of the 12:10 PM KST retail launch. The update addresses the most urgent launch-day bug: unpurchased costume and Familiar DLC appearing owned in the equipment menu. Equipping those items triggered an abnormal popup and closed the game — a critical issue affecting day-one players exploring cosmetic customization.

The patch enforces proper Steam ownership checks before displaying DLC as equippable. Players who legitimately purchased costume packs or Familiar variants can equip them normally after updating. No gameplay balance, hero stats, or story content changed in this release.

What Changed

  • DLC ownership validation — only purchased cosmetics appear equippable
  • Crash prevention — unpurchased items no longer trigger shutdown popups when selected
  • Fair play enforcement — closes an exploit where players could preview paid cosmetics without purchase

Hound13 announced the patch through official Steam news. Third-party patch trackers including VG Spoilers mirror the same changelog confirming no additional modifications shipped alongside the fix.

Before and After the Patch

Before 1.0.1: Avoid all costume and Familiar equipment unless you confirmed Steam purchase — even if the in-game menu shows items as owned. Standard story and combat continued normally when skipping cosmetics.

After 1.0.1: Verify game files through Steam, restart the client, then equip legitimately owned or free-promotion items including Abyssal Direwolf claimed via our Free Rewards guide. Unpurchased paid DLC should no longer appear equippable.

Related Launch Issues Still Open

Patch 1.0.1 does not resolve every launch-day notice. Two paid store items — Black-Dyed Vestment and Exploration Squad Griffon — may still fail to display on the Steam store pending Hound13 investigation. Pre-launch build progression resets for cooking recipes and mini-game records remain separate from this hotfix. Track status on our Launch Known Issues page.
