DragonSword: Awakening Hero Quests and Rift System

Last updated: July 2026

Post-launch Hero Request stories starting with Othello, dimensional Rift portals, photo mode, and endgame content layers.

Hero Requests Overview

Hero Requests (also called Hero Quests) explore backstories of launch roster heroes not fully covered in the main campaign. Hound13 confirmed the first Hero Request focuses on Othello — the heavy attacker applying Knockdown and Break shown in the July 16 launch trailer. Liza's story follows as the second Hero Request update. These arrive free as content patches, not paid DLC.

Read our Othello combat guide for Knockdown combos from the launch PV and check the Characters hub for unlock methods through story and in-game currency.

Rift System

The Rift System spawns dimensional portals across the Continent of Orbis after launch. Enter rifts for instanced combat layered atop open-world exploration — similar to Sudden Missions but with dedicated portal entry points shown in developer streams. Rifts complement the Tower of Trials endgame and co-op Raids without requiring separate purchases.

Additional H2 2026 Features

Hound13's roadmap livestream also confirmed retail and post-patch convenience features: photo mode, an expanded help system, Floating Island region as large-scale update, and four free new heroes (Ryza, Jerome, Veronica, Logan). See post-launch heroes for combat specialties and Roadmap hub for the full timeline.
