DragonSword: Awakening Launch Bugs and Workarounds

Last updated: July 2026

Avoid unpurchased DLC crashes, understand pre-launch save resets, and track missing Steam store items — July 23–24, 2026.

Official Launch Issues — July 23–24

Hound13 posted multiple Steam news notices within hours of the 12:10 PM KST release. This guide summarizes workarounds so you can keep playing while hotfixes deploy. Full technical details live on our Launch Known Issues page.

Critical: Do Not Equip Unpurchased DLC

Unpurchased costume and Familiar DLC may appear owned in the equipment menu. Equipping or mounting them triggers a crash popup and closes the game. Only equip cosmetics you confirmed purchasing in Steam — standard story and combat progress is unaffected when avoiding unpurchased items.

Missing Store Items

Two paid items failed to display on the Steam store at launch: Black-Dyed Vestment costume and Exploration Squad Griffon Familiar. These are cosmetic-only — no combat advantage. The free Abyssal Direwolf promotion claims separately via our Free Rewards guide.

Pre-Launch Save Data Reset

Players who accessed pre-launch review builds may see resets to cooking recipes, mini-game records, titles, Karma Codex entries, and Sudden Mission discovery. Achievement progress is preserved. Standard July 22–23 purchasers starting fresh are unaffected. Demo save data never transferred from the closed July 7 trial.

When to Verify Game Files

After Hound13 posts a hotfix "deployment complete" notice, verify integrity through Steam before retrying cosmetic equipment. Update GPU drivers and install on SSD if unrelated crashes persist. Enable lock-on per our First Hours guide before reporting new bugs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will equipping free Direwolf crash my game?
No. The Abyssal Direwolf is a legitimate free promotion through August 31, 2026. The crash only affects unpurchased paid DLC incorrectly shown as owned.
Should I wait for a patch before playing?
No. Story and combat work normally if you avoid equipping unpurchased cosmetics. Hotfixes target the DLC display bug specifically.
